What to wear for a perfect photoshoot at the Real Flower Confetti Fields

Are you planning on heading to the incredible Real Flower Petal Confetti Company’s flower fields this summer? You’re in for a treat! With the stunning, vibrant colours and picturesque backdrops, it’s the perfect place to capture some fun and magical photographs. If you’re wondering what to wear for a photoshoot at the confetti flower fields, then I’m here to help with tips and tricks on choosing perfect – and practical! – outfits for your flower field adventure.

1. Opt for light and neutral colours

Light, neutral colours like white, cream, beige, and pastels will work beautifully with the colourful backdrops at the confetti fields. These shades will complement the vibrant flowers without clashing or overpowering your photographs.

2. Go for comfortable and flowing fabrics

Comfort is key, especially when you’ll be moving around and posing in a field on a potentially hot day, so I recommend you go for comfortable, breathable fabrics like cotton, linen, and chiffon. Flowing dresses and skirts will not only look gorgeous, adding an elegant touch to your photos, but they’ll help to keep you cool! Men, I’d stick to trousers rather than shorts – sorry!!

3. Coordinate, but don’t match

I know how tempting it is to stick everyone in matching outfits, but you’ll achieve a much nicer effect if you go for a coordinated look instead. Pick a colour palette and then each family member can pick outfits within that range.

4. Love patterns? Keep it subtle

Clothes with a simple solid colour are always your safest bet, however subtle patterns can add a bit of interest to your photos. Think delicate florals, soft stripes, or gentle polka dots. Just make sure the patterns are not too bold or busy, as that will detract from the overall look.

5. Accessorise thoughtfully

Accessories can enhance your outfit without overshadowing the setting. Simple pieces like a sun hat, a delicate necklace, or a pair of stylish sunglasses* can add a splash of personality to your look. Remember to keep it minimal – you want the focus to be on you and the gorgeous flower fields. *While sunglasses will look fab for an individual picture, they’re not ideal for getting the best out of your family photos – we want to see your face!

6. Beware with your footwear

It’s no good going for your best high heels for this; choose something comfortable because you’ll be standing and walking on uneven ground. Flat sandals, espadrilles, or low-heeled shoes will do you well – and if it’s been raining in the days up to your visit, or on the day, some colourful wellies can add a bit of fun to your photos whilst keeping your feet comfortable!

7. Plan for good old British weather

I rarely pay much attention to the weather forecast – isn’t it just always wrong?! But it’s probably a good idea to have an idea what it might do on the day so you can plan accordingly. On a sunny day, light and airy fabrics will keep you cool, or if it’s a bit chilly, bring along a light cardigan or shawl that complements your outfit. If it’s going to rain, then I’d suggest getting some umbrellas for some playful photos without ruining your look with big raincoats! (Psst for those of you who book in with me, I’ve got some gorgeous white umbrellas we can use on the day!)

8. Let’s be practical

And finally, it’s important to think about the practical stuff. Sun cream and water bottles are a must – and snacks for your little people! A small blanket or picnic mat is also handy for sitting or lying down shots – and double up as a picnic blanket for afterwards too!

Fantastic experience! I took my family for a shoot with Katie & she was amazing from start to finish. My toddler was a terror and my daughter a diva but some how she worked her magic and we have beautiful digital photos, prints and a lovely big frame for the wall. We had a lovely viewing where we were able to select the photos we wanted, we couldn’t possibly chose from them so we bought them all! 🙂 She made us all feel very welcome and my children and even my husband enjoyed the experience. Highly recommend! I will be back for more photos as my family grow. Thank you Katie
